Praying, One for Another

"To be prayerless is to be without God, without Christ, without grace, without hope, and without heaven" J.C. Ryle

I am a firm believer in the power of prayer for I have seen the results of prayer over and over. This is why I am glad that a small group of us have been getting together every Friday evening at different homes for a time of fellowship and prayer.

We pray for our pastor, our church, our nation and for any special requests from family and friends. There is a great need in this day and age for people who are committed to prayer and to seek God with all of our hearts.

It is our hope and desire that other groups would also join us in seeking God's intervention for our churches, our families and our political leaders. We are on a slippery slope and it does not seem to be getting any better. This is one of the reasons we started this prayer group.

I would encourage anyone who may have a prayer request to email me at kd@kendmaes.com
and I would be happy to present your requests to our prayer group. I know that there is a great need for God and there is a lot of hurt in today's world that only God can heal.

Please keep this small band of brothers and sisters in your prayers that our group may continue to grow and to faithfully seek God.

God bless you and keep each and every one of you.

A Sick Nation, A Sick People

Lech Walesa, former President of Poland said the following:

The United States is only one superpower. Today they lead the world. Nobody has doubts about it. Militarily. They also lead economically but they're getting weak. But they don't lead morally and politically anymore. The world has no leadership. The United States was always the last resort and hope for all other nations. There was the hope, whenever something was going wrong, one could count on the United States. Today, we lost that hope.

If you think about it he is spot on. We as a nation are morally and politically weak and I might add morally and politically corrupt.

I firmly believe this has started with the breakdown of the family unit. In addition churches today are also at fault for compromising true Biblical teachings with the teachings of the secular world. No church is exempt from this and what we need in our family, our churches and in our government is a true spiritual awakening.

The Bible states it very clearly: "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Quoting from that prayerful hymn, "Spirit of the Living God fall fresh on Me"

To which I would add: "Spirit of the Living God fall fresh on our land"

Yes, our country needs God more than ever. May it be our prayer this day!

Ten Very Long Years

There is a man I know that has battled cancer for the last ten years. This cancer has had him at death's door more often then he would care to remember.

The cancer he had was under his jaw and the tumor that they had discovered was the size of a pea. In order to get to the tumor, the doctors first had to remove his jaw as well as his palate. Once having accomplished this, his jaw was replaced and the palate was replaced with a prosthesis. This then has prevented him from eating any types of solid foods. So, for the past ten years in addition to having those dreaded radiation and chemo therapy treatments he has had to feed himself via a tube in his stomach.

Seeing him in this state was enough to make anyone cry and I for one shed many tears for him. However, he never gave up and the people closest to him kept praying for him. His church prayed, his friends prayed and his family prayed . Many times everyone wondered what was keeping him going and it must have been the fervent prayers as well as the fact that God was not ready to call him home. I am sure many times he wished that he could just die and according to those who have been through what this man was going through could testify to that feeling.

Well, just last month on one of his many doctor visits and follow ups, the doctors announced a miracle. He was cancer free! His cancer was not in remission, it was GONE! Oh for the amazing grace of God, how sweet it must have been to his ears to hear that after TEN VERY LONG YEARS, God has set him free from this dreadful disease that claims so many lives.

For ten very long years, he was prayed for and God heard and answered those prayers. I for one rejoice, for I was one of those people that prayed for him with all my heart. I was one of those people who cried after visiting him. But our God is a God of miracles and is still very much in the business of hearing the prayers of those who earnestly seek Him.

I praise God and give Him all the glory and credit for His awesome healing power. And I thank Him for giving my brother a new lease on life.
